Mon 29 Jun 2009 : TUNISIA - Third mobile license awarded to Divona and France Télécom consortium
The French telecoms carrier France Télécom and Tunisia's first VSAT operator Divona have recently won a license for mobile and fixed-line telephony services in Tunisia after submitting the best technical offer and presenting a competing bid worth TND257million.  (more)

Tue 16 Jun 2009 : LIBYA - Dutch company BAM International wins LPG terminal construction contract
Libya's state-run Zuetina Oil Company has awarded a cooling water contract on its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) terminal to BAM International, the operating-arm of the Dutch-based construction group Royal BAM group. The value of the contract was EUR11.5mn.  (more)

Tue 09 Jun 2009 : LIBYA - New gas distribution deal in partnership with Egypt's Taqa Arabia worth US$165mn
Taqa Arabia, a subsidiary of Cairo-based Citadel Capital, has won a EUR118mn (US$165mn) contract to build a natural gas distribution network in Libya which should supply 370,000 homes in Tripoli, Benghazi and Misurata.  (more)

Thu 04 Jun 2009 : MOROCCO - New gas discoveries at the Gharb region
Morocco's state-owned Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) has recently announced a new gas discovery at its Sebou concession in the Gharb Basin northeast of Rabat in partnership with the UK's oil and gas exploration company Circle Oil.  (more)

Wed 27 May 2009 : TUNISIA - Two foreign companies bid for a EUR1.4bn deep-water port licence
According to the Tunisian official news agency, two foreign companies were involved in the final phase of the tender for studying, funding, building and managing a deep water port at Enfidha which will be achieved in a Build-Operate-Transfer basis. The port will have a capacity of 5 million containers per year.  (more)

South Korea's Samsung Engineering has recently emerged as the frontrunner to lead a bid for Algeria's Skikda refinery upgrade contract. The company has submitted the most competitive offer worth DZD93.038bn (US$1.2bn) to the Algerian state energy giant Sonatrach.  (more)

Fri 08 May 2009 : LIBYA - Libya receives long-term foreign currency issuer rating of BBB+ from Fitch Rating
The US rating agency Fitch has assigned Libya a BBB+ local currency rating and a BBB+ country ceiling, and an F2 short-term foreign currency rating. The long-term ratings have stable outlook.  (more)
