Mon 15 Mar 2010 : LIBYA - Italian firm Medco to invest US$400million in an energy project
Italian oil and gas company Medco Energi International will invest as much as US$400 million in an oil facility in Libya, in partnership with Libyan Investment Authority (LIA). The total cost of the project is estimated at US$800million.  (more)
Sun 28 Feb 2010 : TUNISIA - ASSURANCES SALIM to go public on Tunis Stock Exchange
Tunisian insurance company, ASSURANCES SALIM, will go public on Tunis Stock Exchange through a capital increase of TND3.3million. The offering consists in the issue of 660,000 shares at TND15.0 per share, with a nominal value of TND5.0 per share and a premium of TND10.0 per share.  (more)

Libyan People''s General Committe for Industry, Economy and Trade has recently announced the launching of a comprehensive triennial development program worth US$2.8billion (LYD3.4billion) encompassing 2,191 projects and contributing to creating 25,167 jobs. The plan aims at boosting the industrial sector in the country at a faster pace.  (more)

Mon 16 Nov 2009 : TUNISIA - First 100% Tunisian submarine cable is ready for use
Tunisie Telecom inaugurated, on Friday, its first own Tunisian submarine fibre cable named 'Hannibal'. With an initial capacity of 40 gigabits per second, expandable to 3,200 Gbps, this submarine cable, connecting Kelibia to Italian city of Mazara, is one of the most important telecommunications works in the Mediterranean; it covers the distance of 180 kilometres.  (more)

Italian engineering and construction company Bonatti has entered into a US$149.7mn deal with Algerian state-owned energy group Sonatrach and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. to build oil and gas pipelines as part of the development of El Merk energy field in the Algerian Sahara.  (more)
Wed 21 Oct 2009 : LIBYA - Danish group wins EUR130million Libya cement plant order
Danish engineering group FLSmidth has signed a cement plant contract worth EUR130million in Libya. The plant will be built close to Nalout, some 280 kilometers southwest of Tripoli and will produce 4,600 tonnes per day.  (more)
